Марезме

The Maresme coast begins a few kilometres North of Barcelona and runs all the way up to the Costa Brava. It is a long, coastal strip of land between the wooded hills that run along the coast and the sea. There are many long sandy beaches (Pineda and Malgrat), attractive seaside towns (Arenys de Mar and Canet) and others with a long tourist tradition (Caldes d'Estrac and Sant Pol de Mar). There are also many pretty villages in the hills such as (Alella, Tiana, Vilassar de Dalt, Premia de Dalt and Sant Viçenc de Montalt).

Inland from the Maresme coast you will find a mix of green, hilly countryside reminiscent of the French countryside and also more mountainous, wooded scenery. The area has some charming traditional market towns such as Caldes de Montbui and Vic. The Montseny national park dominates this area. There are a number of excellent golf courses nearby and the coast and Barcelona are within easy range.

The area North of Barcelona is characterised by its sandy beaches, hills, forests, clean air and a mild and temperate climate throughout the year.
